RE: Jayco Feather too low to the ground when dumping

Our unit is very low as well. I use a 30ยบ clear elbow on the outlet. I also have a clear straight piece for those places where an elbow won't work.

We travel with ours on if we're traveling in freezing weather. We really live dangerously, we run our fridge too. :)

RE: Lube

I use Dry Lube spray. It doesn't attract dust and dirt like regular lube does.

RE: Altimeter

Depends on how accurate you want to be. As stated most GPS units have that capability. They are not terribly accurate, with good sat lock you can get within about 50' vertical accuracy. If that's good enough then I'd definitely get the GPS unit.

RE: myth busted

RV'ers are people too. Most people that frequent here probably check those things at least once in a while.
I'm always intrigued when I see a relatively new vehicle with two of the three brake lights out. I think, don't these people ever look around? Nope; they just get in them and drive. I'm sure there's a small percentage of the RVing population that are the same way.

RE: Weird tire problem, have never seen thing like it before.

That looks like carcus separation to me. I had a set of BF Goodrich tires do that years ago. It looked just like a recap turning loose. Definitely have them replaced.

RE: What do u do?

Design engineer of instrumented systems. Retired after 25 years. Made fun of those folks I met that had retired and went back to work. Now I are one! Plan on retiring again in a few years (this time for good). Best job I ever had was exhibits manager for a science center. That was after the first retirement. DW is a manager for Wally-World (Please don't hold that agains't me). :)

RE: Toilet Backs up

My bet is that they didn't ream the pipe after cutting it. They possibly have gotten too much glue in the fittings too causing a mound of glue. Either of these things will cause a clog. It's not your fault and don't let the dealer/mfg tell you it is. A good reamed properly glued pipe won't clog that easily.

RE: On The Roof

Most of those roofs are designed for 75 to 100 lbs per square foot (144 sq in). How many square feet do you suppose your shoes cover when standing? Mine are less than 1/2 sqft. Now, when I try to walk one shoe is taking the entire load, so if you weigh 150#s and you stand on 1 foot you're putting 150#'s on 1/4 sqft. That works out to 600#s per sqft! Take some 3/8" thick plywood 2' square and lay on top being careful not to lay it over an protrusions as they will tend puncture the roof material from the concentrated pressure.

RE: How can I ID my TT wheel bearings?

Even if you can't find markings, pull an inner, outer & seal and take them to your local bearing or auto parts place and they can measure them and get you the right ones. They're all standard sizes and most are readily available. I use a block of wood to drive the races out of the hub and have a set of pullers for the spindle races. Got them from Harbor Freight for a few dollars.

RE: DC Circuit problem. What am I messing up?

OK, like Fisherman, I have read this thing till I have a headache too. :)
If I understand correctly.
1) You're trying to replace a fixture that contains a switch and the lights.
2) You have 2 white and 2 black wires running to/from that location in the RV.
3) The original fixture had 2 white and 2 black wires running out of it.
4) The new fixture has 1 blue wire and 2 white wires running into it.
Is this correct?
You should have power between the white and black wires coming from the fuse panel (converter). If you can't tell which ones they are you can still test for power. Connect the white wires together then connect the black wires together (but not to the white ones). Then test for voltage between the black and white wires. If you don't have 12 volts there you're problem is in the wiring and you'll need to resolve it before continuing.
If you do have power between the black and white wires then it's time to connect the fixture. " Pull the fuse" (The following is a guess because I don't know what fixture you have). Hook the blue wire to the black wires in the RV then hook the white wires to the white wires. If the fixture is wired like I think it is, the switch should turn on the lights after you've replaced the fuse.

RE: Generator remote start

Sounds like one of the spade terminals is loose or corroded. When you're holding it to jump them out you put enough pressure on it to make contact. When it's plugged onto the switch it's not making good contact.

RE: Bugs on camper? How to remove/how to keep from sticking?

x4 for the Dryer sheets. I am amazed how good they work.
I used Turtle Wax Ice detailer on the RV and last trip, two things happened.
1) There were very few bugs stuck to the front of the RV (ton's were stuck to the TV).
2) I washed the ones that were there off with just some liquid detergent mixture and a long handled brush. No scrubbing.
While this is not a scientific experiment I did wax the front of the TV with the Ice detailer and will be waxing the front of the RV with it again. I'll let everyone know how it turns out in the coming days.

RE: Blue Rhino Tank Exchange

It's about the same here too. Propane is $3 a gal and they charge you for 5 gals. The BR exchange is $16 and with the wifes WM discount it's actually cheaper. Sometimes I get them filled and sometimes I just swap them. Never had a problem getting a BR cylinder filled anywhere.

RE: Dealer going out of business. Do you pick up your trailer?

Since he doesn't know what bank it's financed with it sounds like he hasn't signed the loan agreement yet. If that's the case then he hasn't bought it. If he signed it without it all filled out, well I won't say what he was except, now he owns it and it would be prudent to go get it.

RE: What do I need to run 2 PC's on 1 aircard

I use the Cradlepoint CTR500 router and it works great! Be sure to buy an antenna if you get one of these and a 12v adaptor if you need one. The Cradlepoint PHS300 or CTR350 would work great too. It's very simple to setup.

RE: Bees

SOunds like Yellow Jackets to me. The best way to handle them is to follow them till you see where they're coming from (it'll be a small hole in a tree trunk or the ground) and wait till almost dark then spray the nest with wasp spray. Saturate it good and you won't have a problem the next day. They're not real aggressive unless you mess with them (step on their nest is the worst thing you can do).

RE: Chicken and noodles in a Dutch oven?

Just raise your DO off the heat a bit and cook. The DW & I make Chicken and Dumplin's in a DO all the time. Noodles would be easier than that cause they wouldn't have the tendency to stick as bad. Keep um stirred well.
